The Saint Joe Hockey Team is getting back into the swing of things as another long season begins. In the coming days, they will have their first three-game weekend. In any other sport, three games in a weekend is unheard of, but in hockey it is a common occurrence.

Playing three games in a weekend is taxing on a team. It requires depth and stamina, two things that Saint Joe has been improving day by day. As for depth, the Indians have a deep core of forwards, but the defense has taken a knock with a key blue-liner being out due to contact tracing, leaving the team with only five defensemen available for the weekend. Saint Joe also has two very strong goaltenders to rotate in and out.

The first game of the weekend is a late one against Riley at 8:45 on Friday. Riley has never been a powerhouse, but they are a scrappy team that will always provide a challenge and a scrappy game.

The second of the weekend is a Halloween contest at 5:00 against Lakeshore Saint Joseph. Lakeshore is a historic Michiana powerhouse and boasts a young team this year that has plenty of firepower and plenty of depth. When Saint Joe and Lakeshore meet, it is always a close game.

The Sunday game is against Bloomington Blades. Bloomington is a sneaky team that is always highly ranked. They play with lots of discipline and are not afraid to play physical. Saint Joe will face a challenge with tired legs against a Bloomington team that is not afraid to play the body and hit hard.

The Indians face three solid teams this weekend, but they believe they are one of the best teams in the state and can skate with anybody on any given day.
