Saint Joe Girls Lacrosse is off to an amazing start to the season. The team has grown tremendously since last season with many new players. The program also has two new coaches, Alaina Emerick, and Josie Walters. The Girls have been working very hard in practice the last few months to prepare for the season and it has paid off so far.
Lucy said, “Our season is going well. Our varsity is looking to win state this year so they are putting in the work. JV has been getting the first wins of the program which is really great. The whole team is working really hard, and it shows on the field.”
The girls have won games against Penn, Chesterton, Crown Point, North Ridge, and Portage, and only fell to Center Grove and Zionsville. After the first week of games, the girls were number 1 in the class 1A rankings. Next up is Hamilton High school at Penn on the 29th. Following that the Huskies will go against the South Bend Bears, Mattawan, Culver, Brownsburg, William Henry Harrison, Chesterton, Cathedral, Homestead, and Munster. Following those games will be post season.
Addie reported, “I am very exited for this season and I think so far we are off to an amazing start. JV is improving really fast and both teams are showing up and showing out.”
The team Captains, Shea Anderson, Mary Maher, and Ellie Emberton have really stepped up this season. Their top scorers include Mary Maher, Kate O’Shaughnessy, Peyton Hopkins, Shea Anderson, and Ellie Emberton have been putting in the work. Their strong defenders have also worked very hard to work on securing the wins.
