The last episode of. . . Invincible season three aired less than two weeks ago and I’m still blown away. This season was a crazy, shocking, jaw-dropping, bonkers, roller coaster of a ride. The best part all of of it is that it was like season one all over again, meaning the finale was the best part of the season, and I’ll admit while I’m a diehard season one finale lover, season three’s is like that on steroids. I still do, however, believe season one is still the better season overall because of the flaws of season three.
While there were faults in this season that did impact the overall rating, there were good parts that go a long way. The voice acting was great as always; Steven Yeun (Mark/Invincible) is solid, Gillian Jacobs (Eve Wilkins/Atom Eve) is sounding ready for her role in the future (if you know you know), love seeing J.K Simmons (Nolan/Omniman) and Seth Rogen (Allen the Alien), and so did everyone else. The story was great keeping up with pretty much everything that happened in season two and some things that happened in season one. However, the things they did that connected to season one was, in my opinion, unentertaining, not that the plot was bad it just wasn’t as attention grabbing enough, especially when it was episode five and episodes six, seven, and eight were excellent.
Yet, that brings me to my next point, the last three were great for a number of reasons but a big one is the animation. Everything before those three was lackluster if I’m being honest, whereas season one every episode, while the same amount of animating wasn’t put in for every episode, they all looked good, even the boring scenes. However, season one did have more time to perfect the look of the show because it hadn’t debut yet, and while I honestly don’t care that much about the animation, I’ll admit I wanted just a tad bit more. Other than that, this season was great. We got a peek at the real potential of Mark Grayson, and Atom Eve, we learned something crazy that leads to future plots in the show, and I’m already counting down the days.
