Service hours are due on May 1 at 11:59pm. Fulfilling service hour requirements are necessary for graduation, so make sure you do them, especially if you are a senior. If you need some extra service hours, here are some ideas:
- Unity Gardens – A community garden project where anyone can harvest fresh produce for free
According to their website, Unity Gardens is open to volunteers from 9am-7pm during the week and 9am-5pm during weekends at their main garden. Volunteer activities include planting, weeding and generally taking care of the garden. Activities change depending on the season.
- St. Margret’s House – A charity organization that serves women and children
St. Margret’s House offers a variety of service opportunities such as working in the kitchen, clothes closet, and front desk. These options have different hours, details of which can be found on their website at https://stmargaretshouse.org/volunteer-with-us/. In order to volunteer, you will first need to apply with the link found on the St. Margret’s House volunteer opportunities page.
- Tutoring
If you are in NHS or another approved program that allows you to tutor other students free of charge, these hours can count for your Christian service. If you are in NHS, make sure to enter the hours under NHS service rather than under Christian Service. These hours will be counted for both categories.
Make sure to check mobileserve for any additional service opportunities.
