The varsity baseball team has started the year strong. They are currently 12-0 overall and 7-0 in the NIC.
Offensively the team has been put on some impressive hitting performances. The team has 118 hits total. Joe Washburn leads the team with twenty-two hits followed by AJ LaSane and Brett Mason with sixteen hits each. Joe Washburn is leading the team in batting average, with a 0.537 average. Washburn is followed by Franco Biffle with a 0.429 average and Brett Mason with a 0.421 average. Their offensive has also been fueled by their speed on the base path. They have a total of sixty-three stolen bases across twelve games. Joe Washburn leads the team with an impressive twenty-seven stolen bases. Brett Mason has twelve stolen bases with AJ LaSane following close behind with eight.
The pitchers have also been impressive so far this year giving up fifty-six hits and thirty-one runs while striking out sixty. Jacob Snyder leads the team in strikeouts with twenty-three, followed by Jay Nuber with seventeen, and Braxton Myers with six. Of the pitchers who have pitched at least five innings, Julian Cosey has the best ERA at 0.88 followed by Braxton Meyers with a 1.17 ERA and Jacob Snyder with a 2.18 ERA.
The baseball team has sixteen more games in the regular season before sectionals. Senior night will be on May 13 against Washington. Seniors Owen Balint, Joe Washburn, Owen Futa, Braxton Meyers, Brody Zielinksi, Brett Mason, Luke Short, Jay Nuber, Brady Langager, Josh Dolniak, and Jimmy Fox will be honored before the game.
