On Saturday May 10, the junior varsity track and field team competed in the JV NIC meet at Elkhart Central. Schools that competed included Penn, Bremen, Elkhart, Concord, and New Prairie.

The distance team for Saint Joe had an amazing performance!! On the girls side is Hannah Kinzel who broke 6 minutes in the mile with a time of 5:57 and scored in second overall. Another performance on the girls side is Eleanor Veselik who got first place in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:21. The 4×800 meter relay that consisted of Beatrix McClarren, Vivian Green, Sofia Lantigua, and Eleanor Veselik also got first place with a time of 10:57.

On the boys side, Lleyton Kempf had a great performance in the high hurdles and scored second with a time of 17.50. The 4×4 relay team of Alex Slagh, Ethan Miller, Jon Santos-Martinez, and Nick Baxter scored second with a time of 3:47. Finally, the 4×800 meter relay team of Nick Baxter, Caden Clifford, Marco Bajuyo, and Aaron Robles had a time of 9:08 and scored first in that event.

The team had great individual performances and relays on both the girls and boys side. Congratulations to all those that placed in their events and this meet marked the end of some athletes’ season so good luck to them!
