Being the top two players on the Saint Joe girls golf team and having the two lowest scoring averages, there is no doubt that the two Dunham sisters have led the team to another record breaking season.
Marley Dunham (a senior) has been the number one player since her freshman year and showcased her dominance in the area as a golfer winning the NIC conference tournament and making it to State as an individual her sophomore year but with the addition of her younger sister Lucy (a sophomore) to the team, the team has captured score records, post season titles and two trips to the IHSAA State Finals.
The Dunham girls started off the season hot in the first week of August. Marley Dunham fired scores 75-79-76-68 (-4). Lucy Dunham fired scores of 81-79-74-72. These scores led the team to finish third twice that week and take home a win at the Northwood Invite where the team broke the school record that they previously set last year with a blistering 303.
Later in August, the Huskies battled at the Legends Golf Course in the Hall of Fame Classic that featured 15 of the top 20 teams in the state. The ladies placed 9th overall with Marley Dunham (78) and Lucy Dunham (79) leading in lowest scores.
Another record broken by the 2025 Saint Joe Girls Golf team was a perfect season of wins in their 9 hole matches. The team won every single match allowing them to bring home the hardware with the NIC Conference Trophy. The Huskies then won the NIC Conference Championship with all 5 girls placing in the top eight. The Dunham girls again led the team with a 68 (-2) from Lucy, who placed 1st overall and a 77 from Marley.
The Huskies showed how good they really were when faced with Knollwood’s fast greens and tree lined fairways at Sectionals. They won with a score of 329 led by Marley’s 75 and Lucy’s 78. Marley Dunham individually won the Penn Sectional title. Lucy Dunham placed 3rd overall.
Next came the challenging golf course named Sandy Pines. This course was an uphill battle for the girls but were able to grind it out to 2nd place advancing to State led by a pair of 82’s from the Dunham sisters. Marley said, “It was definitely the one of the most stressful rounds of my life, it being my senior year, and not playing well individually I felt the pressure of it all.” Lucy said a similar idea ,”The pressure was really hurting my golf game. I felt the weight of the team on my shoulders. Once knowing that we had made it to State I instantly felt better.”
State was definitely a struggle and they fell short of their individual goals but as a team they set another record. The team took home 8th place, best in school history and breaking their previously set record from the year before of 10th place. Congrats to the girls on a fantastic season!
