Indians Hockey Looks to Turn it Around

Kyle Tupper, Staff Writer

The Saint Joseph hockey team has been sliding a little bit lately and they look to right the ship as soon as possible.

This weekend, the weekend of November 6th, 7th, and 8th, they will face off against Valpo and Southwest Michigan Blades. Two very important league games. The Indians have played Adams, Riley, and Lakeshore in the league up to this point, defeating Adams and Lakeshore but dropping a heartbreaker in a shootout against Riley.

The game against Valpo always promises to be a good game. It is a Valpo team that has made strides in the past couple of years, in which they constantly battled and inevitably failed to climb out of last place in the league. This year, though, they are a threatening team, having beaten Penn.

The Blades are league newcomers. They joined the league just two seasons ago. They won the league their first year and came second the year after. This year, having graduated the majority of their senior core, they have struggled to gain traction but still appear to be a strong team that will battle for the league title. They love to play a physical game and an injury-ridden Saint Joe team will have to deal with that.

The Indians look to pick up a couple extremely important points in the standings as they continue their quest to return to the state championship.
