The Saint Joe Indians swam against the Elkhart Lions on December 14.

The Saint Joe Indians had a strong showing at the Elkhart Aquatics Center, swimming against the Elkhart Lions.  The meet took place after a long four day championship meet for several of the swimmers, bringing their racing total to five consecutive days.  The meet opened with relay wins from both the boys and girls 200 yard medley relays.

The girls relay was swum by Mary Cate Pruitt, Cece Farrell, Lauren Pieniazkiewicz, and Emma Feltzer.  They boys were led off by John Bossler, Peter Pieniazkiewicz, Sammy Sierra, and Gage Hannewyk.  Seniors Lauren Pieniazkiewicz and John Bossler took home individual wins in the girls and boys 200 freestyle.  Junior Sammy Sierra won the boys 200 yard individual medley and senior Emma Feltzer won the girls event.  Junior Jane Lloyd took home second in the girls 50 yard freestyle and freshman Jack Tobolski took home third in the boys 50 free.

After the diving break, where Tatum White won the girls diving event, the Indians took back to the pool.  Jane Lloyd picked up her first individual win of the evening in the 100 yard butterfly and Sammy Sierra took him is second individual win in the same event for the boys.

Lauren Pieniazkiewicz picked up her second win in the 100 yard freestyle after a last minute lineup change.  Gage Hannewyk swum his first individual race of the night in the 100 yard freestyle, winning the event by 9 seconds.  Mary Cate Pruitt’s first individual race of the meet came in the 500 yard freestyle where she won the event by nearly 13 seconds.

John Bossler took home his second individual win of the night in the 500 freestyle, winning by over a minute.  The girls 200 yard freestyle relay won their event, with the boys relay coming in second in theirs.  Mary Cate Pruitt picked up her second individual win of the night in the girls 100 yard backstroke.  Gage Hannewyk followed up after her, taking his second individual win of the night in the boys 100 yard backstroke.

Freshman Margaux Hannewyk took home third in the girls 100 yard breastroke, and sophomore Luke Reynolds took home second in the boys event.  The final event of the night was the girls and boys 400 yard freestyle relay.  The girls team, led by Olivia Elston, Emma Feltzer, Lauren Pieniazkiewicz, and Mary Cate Pruitt, won their event by over 20 seconds.  The boys team, led by Jack Murry, John Bossler, Sammy Sierra, and Gage Hannewyk, won the event by nearly 30 seconds.

The girls team won their meet against the Elkhart Lions 106-79.  The boys fell in a hard fought battle 85-94.  The two teams are heading into winter break training next week.
