The playoffs have arrived for the St. Joe Hockey team.

Before game had even begun this weekend teams were dropping out of the bracket. First was the Southwest Blades after someone on their team had contracted the deadly virus. They have a possibility of coming back this wed. to play out of the losers bracket but they will probably still have to forfeit because of Covid restrictions. Next to forfeit their game this weekend was Adams. They will be out for the whole tournament.

This made re-creating the bracket hard for fairness reasons. Since St. Joe was second seed and the Blades dropped out, the Indians were ranked the highest and got the by.

On Friday LSJ beat Valpo 5-0, which meant we would play LSJ on Saturday. Penn beat Riley 3-1. Riley and Valpo were sent to the losers bracket where they played each other on Saturday. Riley beat Valpo 5-4.

If the blades are back, the Wildcats will play the Blades Wednesdays night. The winner of that game will play the Saint Joseph hockey team on Friday.

Saturday Night Saint Joseph lost to Lakeshore Saint Joseph 2-1 in sudden death overtime. The LSJ team came out hot after their 5-0 night against Valpo. The Indians didn’t show up until the third period when Presten Parker assisted Charlie Eckrich for a game tying goal. The game ended up in 3 on 3 OT where the opposing team would sneak another biscuit behind Tupper.

The Indians need to pull it together if they want a chance to go back to the city championship again. It will be a battle out of the losers bracket but not anything we haven’t seen before.

LSJ and Penn will battle it out before our game on Friday to see who will be sent to the Championship.
