Saint Joe Boys Swim Team Breaks 3 Conference Records at NIC Meet

The Boys Swim team competed at the Northern Indiana Conference meet on January 30.  They had a strong showing in both individual events and relays.  The team of John Bossler, Jack Tobolski, Sammy Sierra, and Gage Hannewyk raced for a third place finish in the 200 yard medley relay in a time of 1:40.02.  John Bossler picked up his first individual win of the day in the 200 yard freestyle in a season best time of 1:44.32.  Luke Reynolds finished in 2:21.63 and Jack Helm finished in 2:23.57.  Sammy Sierra picked up an individual win in the 200 yard individual medley with an NIC record time of 1:52.83.  Thomas Helm finished with a 2:29.96 and Peter Pieniazkiewicz came in with a 2:32.77.  Gage Hannewyk raced to a second place finish in the 50 yard freestyle in a tight battle with swimmers from Penn in a time of 21.30, under the NIC record time.  Jack Tobolski finished with a time of 26.16 and Devin Ramesh finished in 35.35. 

After the diving break, Sammy Sierra picked up his second individual win and meet record of the day in the 100 yard butterfly in a time of 50.11.  Gage Hannewyk picked up another second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 46.85.  Jack Murray finished in 57.61 and Devin Ramesh in 1:17.08.  John Bossler picked up his second individual win and an NIC meet record in the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 4:40.23.  Peter Pieniazkiewicz finished in 6:13.48.  Thomas Helm and Jack Murray swam the 100 yard backstroke in times of 1:05.10 and 1:15.81.  Jack Tobolski was the top finisher in the 100 yard breaststroke for the Indians in a time of 1:11.52, followed by Jack Helm in 1:16.73, and Luke Reynolds in 1:18.02.  The final event of the day, the 400 yard freestyle relay, saw a second place finish from the team of Sammy Sierra, John Bossler, Jack Murray, and Gage Hannewyk in a time of 3:20.54.  The Boys are back in action next week at sectionals at Penn High School.
