Saint Joe Boys Basketball Sectionals started with a bye game which resulted in their first game to be against their rivals, Marian. Tip off against the Knights was on Friday, March 5 at 8pm. From the start the team took charge, leading Marian by 9 points at the end of the first quarter. The strong start continued as the first half ended with the Indians up 30-19.  The Knights came out strong right after half hungry to catch up to the Indians closing the gap in the the third quarter to 40-35. Both teams  battled the last 8 minutes as the game tightened. In the end, the Indians secured their spot in the Sectional Championship and made clutch plays down the stretch to win by a final score of 53-45.

After a successful win over their biggest rivals, the team had little time to celebrate the big win and were already preparing for their next game against John Glenn 7:30pm on Saturday. The Indians took the court with high hopes. This game was close throughout and definitely had everyone on the edge of their seats. At half the Indians lead 29-26. The Falcons pushed all the way to the finish but Saint Joe eventually prevailed by four points as Sectional Champs and were able to cut down the nets.

The Indians have advanced to Regionals and will play Twin Lakes at Washington bright and early at 10am on Saturday, March 13. If they win, they will play Hammond or New Prairie at 8pm that night. Come out and support our Indians as we watch them on their road to state!

Congratulations to all the boys and what they have accomplished this season, we are all so proud of them but hope their season is far from over. Huge shoutout to the five seniors who have dedicated so much of their time to this sport their past four years at Saint Joe. And most importantly a special thanks to Coach Johnson who has done an amazing job coaching these boys and has taught them so much not only about the game but about life. Good luck to the boys with the rest of their season!
