93rd Academy Awards: Nominations

93rd Academy Awards: Nominations

Carrie Anderson, Staff Writer

The 93rd Academy Awards ceremony is set to showcase on April 25, 2021 at 8:00 PM EDT. The ceremony will honor the best and most favored films of 2020 and early 2021.

The award show has had many delays due to covid, which has allowed the eligibility window for some categories to be extended. In fact, the eligibility window for best picture consideration was extended to February 28 instead of December 31. This extension made up for the closing of theaters between March and June due to covid. Despite the many delays of the pandemic thus far, the ceremony will finally be happening.

As theaters began to reopen in 2020, people began to anticipate delayed and upcoming films. So far, in late 2020 and early 2021, there has already been great films that have been released that could potentially be nominated for an Academy Award. Let’s see the nominations for this year.

Competing for best picture are The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Mank, Minari, Nomadland, Promising Young WomanSound of Metal and The Trial of the Chicago 7.
