Throughout the last week, the softball team took to the field to compete in some challenging games.

To begin, they faced New Prairie on Monday, April 12th. The girls were anxious to hit the field, as New Prairie was the team to knock them out of the sectionals championship two years ago. This loss ended up being the last game for the Lady Indians in two years due to COVID. The game started off slow for both teams, with the Indians first scoring in the 4th inning. Senior Shea Ruszkowski went 3-3 on the game and had a terrific game behind the plate. Junior Haley West also contributed two hits and Riley Zache racked in two RBI’s. Sophomore Savannah Hamilton put up a strong fight in the circle. She threw 74 pitches and added two strikeouts.

The Lady Indians went on to win the game 3-1, making them 1-0 in their conference.

Unfortunately, the girls game for the 14th and 15th were cancelled due to COVID contact tracing and weather. But, they went on to play a double header at home on Saturday. They faced off against Bishop Chatard and Edwardsburg.
