Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors star, made history in a game against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Warriors ended up winning the game 107 – 96, but that wasn’t the highlight of the game. With a three pointer in the fourth quarter, Curry dropped over 30 points for his 11th straight game, a record formerly held by Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers. The previous record was ten games with over 30 points. 

Having missed all but five games of the 2019-2020 season, and with the Warriors dynasty over, the question is being asked is if Curry could be a singular star in the LeBron James and Michael Jordan mold.

In January, Damian Lillard, of the Portland Trail Blazers, posted about how the Warriors would “find life much more difficult with opposing defenses able to center their game plans on him in a way they couldn’t during Golden State’s dominant run”. Curry’s response to this taunting was to improve his game, immensely. 

Curry has been averaging a career-high of 31.0 points per game starting Monday while shooting 49.1 percent from the field and 42.7 percent from beyond the arc. If the Warriors were better than their 28-29 record, Curry would be a strong contender for the Most Valuable Player award and possibly even collect his third award. 

Even with the Warriors chance of winning the Championship being nonexistent, the one thing keeping Golden State fans going is the prospect of watching Stephen Curry at the peak of his game. Who knows what record Curry will break next?
