Saint Joe’s Softball lady Indians took on their biggest rival, Marian Knights last friday, April 30th. The game took place at our very out home field at St Pats park North Fields and the first pitch was thrown at 5pm. The score remained tied at 0 for the first 4 innings. Senior, right fielder, Anna Skwarcan was a standout of the game, going 2-3 with 4 RBI’s. She was able to get Morgan Sandor and Erin Rudge to score off of her hits in the fourth inning. Catcher Shea Ruszkowski also came through with 2 huge hits for the Indians in the sixth inning to end the game. Also quite a game for the sophomore pitcher Savannah Hamiliton who struck out 11 Marian hitters. The girls played their hearts out and were able to pull through with a 4-1 victory for the Indians, improving their record to 7-1 in NIC.

Senior co-caption Maddie James explained that they had a slow start to begin with but progressively became more motivated and were able to step it up. She was impressed with the teams hitting for the game and was proud they were able to beat big rivals, Marian.

The lady Indians next game is Wednesday, May 5 at Riley against the Riley Wildcats. Come out and support the ladies! The team was also able to find out their sectional pairings and are matched up with the Marian Knights again! So if you weren’t able to come out to the North Fields for this last match up, come out to Marian’s field. Sectionals start May 24 so be sure to come out to see who can fight to stay in!
