Recap on the Saint Joe Girls Soccer season
October 1, 2021
The Saint Joe girls soccer team has had a very successful season thus far. They ended the regular season with a record of 13-2-1. The girls team is number 9 in the state rankings and top 20 in the country according to Max Preps. The players are very excited to begin post season.
The girls played Marian this past Tuesday. They won 4-0, claiming a final win of the regular season. Captain Ella Scott says that she is extremely excited for post season, and she thinks the girls can make it extremely far. Obviously the goal is making it to state and that is what they are working for day-in and day-out. She says that it is an absolute grind with practices everyday and typically having games 2-3 times a week. Scott says that every single girl on the team gives full effort at all times.
Last year the team lost 12 seniors and many of the returning players were worried that this would be a rebuilding year, but the team has raised their game to outshine everyone’s expectations. Scott says that the team she never lowered expectations and never accepts anything less than their best.
The girls will be losing 9 seniors after this season, so while many will again say it may be a rebuilding year, junior forward Ella Frick says she also will expect nothing less from the team next year and will be holding them to that same high standard. The Saint Joe Girls team has had such success over the last 10 years and are hoping to have more in the future. Make sure to look out for the girls during post-season!
They play the winner of Laporte-Adams on Thursday at Jackson field at 7:30 pm.
