You should join the Redeemer Radio intern team!
Together, we cover the games for Marian and St Joe and interview players before games. It is an amazing opportunity to grow in your writing skills and foster your passion for journalism and sports. In addition to all this, you also receive class credit!
Most weeks, we spend Mondays in class covering the previous week’s game and interviews and then prepping for the upcoming week’s game and interviews. Tuesdays are then spent filming interviews and gathering practice footage of the players, leaving Fridays to film that week’s Tirerack game of the week. You either film the game from the press box, stand on the sidelines along with the team and interview the coach, or post pictures and update Redeemer Radio’s social media.
Personally, I have learned how to ask questions effectively and edit videos. I love going to class and being able to ask questions on how to better myself and my skills. It’s also fun to get to know people from Marian and St Joe that I normally wouldn’t talk to. Interviewing is probably my favorite thing to do, I definitely like being on camera more than editing.
