Last week the Indians took on the Plymouth Rockies in the first round of sectionals. The Rockies had a hard regular season going 0-9. They received the home field advantage to start off the sectionals and looked to wipe off the regular season with a sectional win. But the Indians have a little more success in the regular season going 3-6 capping it off with an overtime win in the Holy War for the first time since 2018.

The Indians looked to keep that momentum going into sectionals and they started off strong by scoring on their first drive with a run by Hayden Miller. After a few defensive stops in the first quarter,  the Indians added to the lead going up 20-0. The Indians put another score on the board with a touchdown pass from Alex Ortiz. Late in the second quarter the Rockies ran several trick plays – including a throwback pass down to the goal line and pushed in for the touchdown. With another Indians score the first half came to an end with a score of 33-0.

Coming out strong the Indians put up another touchdown but the score was answered by another trick play. The Indians sealed the victory with an Ortiz sneak. The Plymouth Rockies could not muster a comeback and the final quarter remained scoreless. The final score was 47-14. The Saint Joseph Indians will return home for their sectional semi-final against NorthWood 10-0 NorthWood. The game is Friday 10/27 @7:00 @Home.
