Track Season Starting Next Monday Feb 13th!


Hey Saint Joe! Do you want to join a Spring sport but don’t know which one to do? Join Track!!

Official Track & Field season begins on Monday, February 13th. There was a mandatory signup meeting on Wednesday February 8th in McCarthy’s room ( Room 246 in Social Studies Hallway) for those who planned on competing in track and field in the spring. In order to practice on Monday, all athletes need a physical on file. You can either submit the physical through finals forms or bring it to Mr. Anthony.

Coach McCarthy encourages all to join athletes or not. Track can be a fun experience that requires massive amounts of discipline and dedication. There are so many events to choose from when you participate in it.There are 16 events in total to choose from. You don’t have to be a runner to join track, you could do field events.  We have very dedicated coaches that focus on specific events to help better the people competing in those events. So if you’re scared you won’t do good at the event, you will improve.  The track events are distance runners, sprinters and hurdlers. Their events range from 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m relay and 4x400m to hurdling events . Distance events are 800m and 1600m. Field events are shotput and discus(throwers), pole vault, high jump and  long jump. Now, you might be wondering: If I like multiple events from different categories , can I do them all? The answer is yes, you can compete in multiple different events. You can choose to focus on a specific event or do multiple events at a time.
