On September 19, the Saint Joseph Cross Country team put on an impressive performance at the New Prairie Invite meet, showing that they are contenders for the upcoming NIC and sectional meets.

The varsity team overall placed 10th against a very strong field including the number one high school runner in America from Angola. Senior captain Zach Taylor placed 18th individually in his division with a personal record of 17:02.  Many of his teammates followed his lead and posted their own PRs right behind him.

The JV runners had a dominating performance, placing first as a team in their AAA division. Aiden Dowdle led the entire field for much of the race. All ten JV runners had a PR on the course which was nominated as one of the best courses to run on in Indiana due to its fun and challenging steps.

The girls varsity team also performed well – finishing 7th against a stacked field.  Led by Maeve Kearney who set a personal best and placed 24th individually, the team looks to build momentum going forward.

With the team hungry for their top position in their forthcoming races, go find out what their workout plans are and see how the races go by following the Cross Country team @SJTrackXC on twitter.
