With a new school year comes the dreaded group projects. Here are some tips on how to communicate well with your group members.
1. Communicate!
Even though it may seem the easiest to sit back and let your partners figure it out, that’s not going to get your project done. When you have ideas and suggestions, make sure to let your teammates know. This could greatly improve both the project and the group experience. If you run into any issues, letting your group know will help them understand how to help you solve the problem and move on with the work. Communication also helps things get done more efficiently.
2. Break up the work and do your part
When looking at it as a whole, a project may seem daunting at first. The best way to make it more manageable is to break up the project into parts so that you and your group members each have an equal amount of work to complete. This helps speed up the process and get the project done on time. It also places less stress on each individual member.
3. Be nice to each other!
Make sure that you are cooperative and patient with the people you are working with. This will ensure that the project is a positive experience for everyone involved. Even if you do not personally get along with all of your group members, keep in mind that acting cordially and professionally means that there will be no unnecessary hard feelings, and you will be able to work together better.
