AJ Boone is a senior at Saint Joe High. He has attended Saint joe all four years of high school. In these four years. He has been a part of the mens Basketball team.
As a leader AJ views himself as a vocal enforcer and energy giver. AJ says, “Whenever guys get down, whether it’s during a game or practice, I make sure they know that we need to move on to the next play.” AJ also is an amazing defensive force when it comes to communicating to his team to make sure the opposing team doesn’t get any easy baskets. AJ makes sure that through this vocal leadership, he makes sure the squad is together as a basketball team, and a Husky pack on and off the court.
On the court Boone makes sure that no specific person gets going and thinks they run the show. He makes sure his teammates know that they are playing for what’s on the front of their jersey and not what’s on the back. Off the court Boone loves spending time with the guys. One of his favorite bonding moments was this year when they went bowling to see their sectional draw, as well as getting together on the weekends to help the bond grow.
In AJ’s free time on rainy days he loves to play video games such as NCAA25, Call of Duty, and 2k25. If not doing that Boone prefers to be outside getting active training to be the best he can be. He does this by putting up shots, jumping rope, running, and doing jumping jacks. If it’s nice out, expect AJ to be outdoors.
Boone plans on going to college to play basketball, hopefully staying in Indiana. If he’s not able to, sports management is the place for him. He hopes to attend IU Indy or even Ball State. AJ’s favorite NBA team is the Indiana Pacers, Although LeBron James is not on the Pacers, Boone believes that LeBron is one of his biggest inspirations on what it means to be not only an amazing but also a dedicated basketball player.
Boone suffered a stomach injury freshman year which was a struggle for him. Not being able to get out of bed, Boone faced a major setback to his basketball career. Flash forward one year, Boone played a good year his sophomore year, But once Junior year came along he suffered a terrible ACL and meniscus injury in his left knee. He believes that it was a mental over physical battle. Boone wasn’t all too upset knowing he had faith in his teammates who ended up making it to the state championship that same year. It was a slow recovery but once he was able to walk again, he couldn’t put down the basketball. Boone got better every week by practicing his free throw and 3 point shot. A quote that has stuck with AJ through all his years is that “God gave his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.” With everything Boone was going through God gave AJ tough battles because he knew AJ was a fighter and could beat those battles and become the basketball player he is today.
