Arianna Rowell was the star point guard for the Saint Joe Huskies for 25-26 Girls basketball team. She averages 27 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. Arianna talks about the adjustments she had to make to be able to succeed playing in high school. “Playing in high school I definitely had to get a lot stronger, which comes with being in the weight room and definitely getting my mental ride and being able to stay strong mentally, being able to go up against stronger girls and performing as best as I can.” Arianna was not only considered to be the best in the South Bend area but broke two records for most points in one game and throughout the season!
She individually scored 47 points in one game and scored a total of 658 points in one season beating the original record by 53 points. Following her huge achievements she was crowned NIC MVP for the 25-26 season. Arianna explains how it feels to fulfill these huge successes, “It feels really good and I was under a lot of pressure to receive this award and so receiving it was definitely a big achievement and then just putting in as much hours and work that I did it feels really great to be able to make a huge accomplishment like that.” Her goals for next season is to win sectionals and hopefully all the way to state! Arianna also plays travel ball for AU Indy 1 EYBL which is a Nike Circuit that travels across over the country.
Along with travel in the off season Arianna says more, “In the off season I get a lot of shots up waking up extra early just to getting off as many shots as I can doing agility work with my mom and just making sure I can get as many reps as I can.” Arianna’s skill and hard work is shown especially through her growing number of D1 offers, making one wonder where she might finally choose for college. Until then, enjoy watching Arianna display her talent on the hardwood of Alumni Gym.
