The girls had their first game against the Marian Knights in Girls basketball. Marian coming off a blowout loss against 16th nationally ranked Washington so the Lady Knights were looking for a way to get back on track. As for the Lady Indians they came off of their first win of the season beating clay by 20. With both of these factors coming into play the Lady Indians displayed the confidence necessary to go toto to toe with the 2nd state ranked Knights.

In the first quarter it was a defensive shutdown for both sides with the score only 12-5.

The second quarter is where Saint Joe struggled and it came back to hurt them in the end with the score being 30-10 at half.

Saint Joe’s coach Scott Francoeur did not believe his team needed to made many adjustments because their shot selection was good and their defense had been fine. His key for the second half was to find a way to get the ball in the net at a higher rate of efficiency.

Sometimes in basketball it can feel like there is a lid on the rim but that lid broke off in the second half with the team scoring 21 points in the 3rd. Marian also found the basket and put up their own 21 points.

Coming into the 4th quarter both teams were hot making 3’s left and but the more experienced Knights found a way to stay hot the rest of the game with some good ball movement and finding the open man.

The final score of the game was Marian 63 Saint Joe 45 with Kennadie Schrock leading scoring for the Lady Indians with 21 points off of 7 3s.

The Lady Indians play nationally ranked Washington and then return from Thanksgiving with NIC games against Bremen and Adams.
