Summer is officially coming to a close here in September which marks the beginning of fall. Around this time of the year is when we see America becoming spooky. From the store aisles to the porch of your neighbor across the street, it is time for us to start getting ready for Halloween. Some people dress up, others go to parties, but one of the best parts of Halloween is a local attraction just north of us. Today on Friday, September 6th is when Niles Scream park opens its doors for another year of fear.
You might ask, why is Niles Scream Park so special? Well, this is no ordinary attraction. It has 44 acres of pure thrill and excitement. The park itself has over ten different experiences. From the “Field of Screams” to the “Haunted Duplex” to the main haunted house and many other attractions. It also has many different events that go on from time to time. Last year during the 2023 season, the park welcomed Tony Moran who played the horror character “Michael Myers” to come and meet excited fans.
When you are not being chased by a psychopath or trying to navigate your way through a haunted maze, you can stop and get some food at the row of food trucks the park has to offer. Get an elephant ear or grab a lemonade when you need a break from all the excitement. The park also has its very own gift shop where you can buy merchandise to remember your frightening experience.
The park also is a great place to go with a group of friends. There is no other feeling than shaking and huddling with your friends as you walk through the pitch black woods, terrified of what will jump out at you. The overall experience is what makes the park unique. It has a very good mix of fake attractions and real people dressed up with their goal to scare your socks off. You think you are safe? Well just because you passed an area doesn’t mean you will lose the creatures following you. You aren’t safe anywhere!
Another great feature of the park is that they change the layout every year, so you cannot predict what will happen if it is not your first time at the park. Every year the theme of the attraction changes as well. The 2024 season theme will be known as “Wicked Woods” where you have to venture into the dark forest where an evil society is lurking. It will not be like anything you have experienced before, you are cut off from the rest of civilization and you cannot escape. It will certainly be a very shocking experience.
