The IHSAA officially recognized Boys Volleyball which means this upcoming season will feature a state tournament. Our team is excited about the change and looking forward to taking the next step as a program after a successful launch in the spring of 2024.
Saint Joe’s boys volleyball team is preparing for the upcoming season with a strong focus on physical conditioning, skill development, and teamwork. The team has committed to a comprehensive training plan that includes weightlifting, practices, and team meetings to make sure they are ready for the matches ahead.
Weightlifting sessions have been important in building their strength and endurance. By focusing on exercises that enhance vertical jumps and quick reaction times, the team is developing the physical tools necessary for blocking, spiking, and fast-paced play.
In addition to strength training, practices help refine their volleyball skills. They run drills that focus on passing, serving, hitting, and blocking, helping players sharpen their techniques. These practices also include practice matches, which allow the team to work on communication and coordination under pressure. This helps players better understand their roles and how to function effectively as a unit during competitive matches.
While team meetings have also been an important part of the preparation process lately, giving players and coaches alike an opportunity to discuss goals, confront areas for improvement, and work on team chemistry-making sure communications stay open allows the team to line up and keep its drive into the season.
In this way, the Saint Joe’s boys volleyball team is working its way to develop the strength, skills, and unity the team needs this season.
